Who We Are Dragon Treasures

My story is simple and at the same time as deep as any human story.

As a child I grew up in the city. I spent my summers in the village. I was a restless child who could not sit still. There I met a herbalist. Her mission was to collect herbs for the state of Bulgaria. With her I took my first steps in studying plants. I learned their properties and special traits. I learned to observe listen and respect nature.

For my family the connection with herbs was a way of life. I will never forget the moments when with my mother, grandfather, and grandmother we would all walk together in the forest. As a family we would talk about everything . Smelling the plants and letting our thoughts travel. These memories never left me,they just slept.

As I grew up life led me to a completely different world. To the world of Crete.

Here I met my first husband.  I devoted myself to jewelry silver and gold. For years this creation fulfilled me. But with time creation became business. When creation loses its soul, you lose the meaning and there's no reason to keep going.

In Crete I was lucky. Meeting Kostoula Sarikaki was a gift of life. A woman with incredible knowledge of wild greens and everything Cretan land offers, combined with endless love and talent for cooking, especially Cretan traditional cuisine.

She opened her heart and knowledge to me. She showed and explained to me which herbs are edible not just as facts, but as a daily act of love and care. This knowledge passed from person to person, is precious to me.

In 2013 I met my partner and now husband. He was the first to see my inner struggle, and with love, he gave me the strength and courage to stop what burdened me and start anew. Together we decided to leave the city. In a small almost abandoned village with just 3 residents, Stratos Selinou, it was his family home. We made a fresh start. It was not escape. It was return.

The village, at 650 meters altitude(just like my childhood village in Bulgaria) embraced me.  Herbs were everywhere. Here memory woke up again.  I found my peace again. And here I felt I belong.

Today through the Dragon Treasures seminars, we do not sell knowledge. We share it.

We share a way of life.
